Hi….I’m Katie!

Former elementary & middle school teacher, perpetual tutor, math & science lover, coach and mom of three.

I started my career teaching math and science at a large public middle school in Southern California. At 22-years-old, I was lucky to have an administration, faculty and community that was supportive, kind and gave me so many opportunities to grow and develop as a teacher, coach, tutor and person. Leaving that position due to a commute that was over one and a half  hours each way was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. That led me to a middle school science position at a kindergarten through eighth grade private school that again connected me with so many amazing teachers and community members where I got the spark to one day create my own STEM lab. Working closely with the math and technology departments and being neighbors with the art classrooms, a passion for integrating all of these wonderful components of learning started. After moving to Connecticut for my husband’s career, I was lucky enough to be a Tinkering teacher for a year before having my first child. Now a mom of three, I have loved being able to stay home and raise my children while volunteering in their classrooms, being part of PTO, co-teaching a preschool homeschool program and coaching. This new career has been my dream for almost a decade and I could not be more excited to have my own children be a part of creating fun and exciting labs, workshops and challenges for our community.
